I am so grateful to Liberty Ministry! I have found a wonderful friend
through being a PenPal! Even though my pal is over a foot taller than me,
Edward soars in his love for the Lord! I am so proud of his progress and
his heart of gold warms my heart! I’m really honored to be a small part of
his life and a part of Liberty Ministry!
Kim and Leann are truly a Blessing!
May the God of HOPE fill you with joy and peace…Romans 15:13

I have been aware of Liberty Ministry since its conception. I am close friends with the founders Kim and Leann, I’ve attended the POVERTY AND THE BIBLE class they lead, donated to the SOCTOBER and APRIL SHOWERS promotions. I’ve given a few things for them to pass on to those who need and I’ve even helped unload some heavy items at their storage unit. That’s been the extent of my involvement that is until I got a call. When I was invited to help with a Bible study at the Austin Street Center I was hesitant. I didn’t really want to drive all the way to Dallas, I was going through a difficult life change, and I didn’t have anything to offer. I agreed to go but just once. I’m not sure what I expected but I wasn’t ready for what I experienced. It was in a room full of men and women I had never met that I saw Christ. I saw Christ in the faces of these complete strangers dealing with hardships I could only imagine. I continued to go, every Tuesday for several weeks and even led the study a couple of times. Other obligations have caused me to cease the Tuesday Bible study but I can’t seem to shake the image of the faces of Christ I saw there. My time at Austin Street Center reading scripture, sharing my personal testimony and listening to the testimonies of the men and women who attend the study have given me new eyes with which to see. Fear melted away and compassion stepped in. I pray that you will step in to being a part of Liberty Ministry. DT
Words can’t really express how I feel for the abundance of love you showed towards me. Thank you kindly; so appreciative for all the furniture and trimmings. You all make my heart so glad and joyful. I’m so glad our paths crossed. What a joy to have met y’all in the Bible class. Please know that I am enjoying everything you brought for my new home. I’m delighted with your kind and beautiful hearts. All my love and prayers to Liberty Ministry RK
When we experienced the first Covid related request to stay home, I saw LIBERTY MINISTRY’S post to be a penpal. I thought it was a great way to serve. I never dreamed how much our friendship would mean to me. Hearing from my pen pal encourages me in my walk. I know he is growing closer to Jesus, too. I look forward to my vaccination so we can meet in person.” – DP
Update: long after masks were no longer a part of our life, we did a Bible study online and met last year! We continue to exchange notes and our friendship is long-lasting. Only God can know how to put people together. Thank you, Liberty Ministry, for being there! – DP
I have been a mover of furniture for Liberty Ministry for quite a while now. I was drawn to it because it seemed like a service opportunity that did not require that I be particularly caring or empathetic. I also liked the fact that it was what in my business life we referred to as a SMART objective (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound). In other words, it allowed me to limit my engagement and avoid messy interpersonal involvements. This is not a particularly stirring spiritual description of service. In fact, I think it pretty much avoids what Christ instructed us to do when He told Peter in John 21 to “feed His sheep”. I include this not too positive self-description because I think it accurately describes many men's feelings about service work.
While all these things are true, and Liberty Ministry is a great opportunity for people with limited time and emotion to give, there is more if you want it. What has happened to me over time is a lessening of that fear and the beginnings of compassion for those to whom life has dealt different cards than I have received. The leaders of Liberty Ministry are teaching me how to be a servant by their actions not by preaching to me. I have learned more from Kim and Leann about service in my time with Liberty than from decades of sermons. When Christ instructs Peter to feed His sheep Christ is concerned about all of His sheep and Peter is one of those sheep. Christ knows that Peter needs to love his fellow humans just as he loves Christ. In fact, they are one and the same. Peter cannot love Jesus without loving mankind and cannot love mankind without loving Jesus.
My personal journey to becoming a servant is far from over. I am less fearful now and plan on continuing to develop it at Liberty Ministry and in other opportunities that God puts in my path. Just as Christ was concerned about Peter He is concerned about my emotional development. He knows for me to live the life He desires for me I need to develop a servant’s heart. Like the Grinch who stole Christmas, my heart for others needs to grow a couple of sizes. Please join us in learning how to serve, and how to feed His sheep. Whether you work with us one-hour loading a truck and just dip your toe in the water of serving others or become one of the regulars does not matter. It would be a blessing to us and to others to have you serve alongside us. DW
AWESOME. I want to thank all my friends; Kim, Leann and the whole team at Liberty Ministry and abroad for the 200% supported path you’ve set me up with. Liberty Ministry is AWESOME – MC
Kim, Leann, Liberty Ministry you all were there for me during some difficult days and have done so much to restore my faith and help me heal. You brought food and medicine; everything I needed. Most importantly you gave me Godly friendship, grace and hope. I thank you. -Yours in Christ, JO
I am a Case Manager for a local non-profit and have had the privilege of working with Liberty Ministry. Kim and Leann have been a blessing to my clients. They have provided for my client’s material needs but most importantly have filled the need for true friendships in the lives of my clients. I will be forever thankful to Liberty Ministry. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to fulfilling God’s work within the community. –SC
While often I think Liberty Ministry finds it a privilege to serve their friends – I find it a privilege to have known and worked with them. Being a housing case manager is rewarding often times we find ourselves with not enough hours in the day, boundaries, and limitations to the daily work with clients. What I know to be true is that having a home drastically changes your life, but the people in your life to love you and have a cup of coffee with you is where the real change happens. I have had the honor of watching Liberty Ministry grow to be what it is today and truly radically change the trajectory of peoples lives. Their work is beyond words – they are truly filling the gap with connection and family. It is an honor to know them! – SH
As a child, did you ever have a pen pal? I did. My school sponsored the program and I remember how excited I would get to see a new letter arrive. Looking back I realize we didn’t have a lot to say to each other but we felt very connected. When I learned of the PenPal Ministry through Liberty Ministry I knew I had to participate. I wanted someone out there to have the same excited feeling I experienced just knowing someone was thinking of them and wishing them well. I have found it rewarding once again. Yes, sometimes life gets in the way and I don’t communicate as often as I feel like I should, but my pal is never far from thoughts and prayers! If you have ever thought how can I make a difference in this world, well this is one small way. Happy writing!! CK
I moved into my apartment after being homeless on the streets since 2014. Mrs. Kim and Mrs. Leann were moving me in before I got there. I mean I didn’t know which apartment I was moving into and when I got there it was furnished. They helped me on the streets with things I needed. I even got sick being hospitalized and they were right there providing things I needed. They never left my side. I’m very grateful for my friends God blessed me with. I have a name for you God Sent Ministry. Just a thought. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. BH
This ministry loves on our clients like no other. I am a case manager in a Dallas shelter and when I see the smiles of my clients after being served by Liberty Ministry, it's priceless! From Bible study to decorating their apartments once they are housed. Their love is beyond measure. I am so grateful for this ministry and what they do for our clients! DD
